A full three months since we had our first fan reactions, the critics have finally had their say on Wonder Woman.

Patty Jenkins's origin tale for Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman had a lot riding on it given the critical bashing Batman v Superman got, in order to make sure Justice League was still anticipated.

Not to mention the fact that Wonder Woman is the first female-led superhero movie since Marvel kickstarted the superhero boom with Iron Man, and previous female-led superhero movies (hello Elektra and Catwoman) have been widely panned.

Fortunately, it seems that it more than delivers, with early critical responses on Twitter largely positive, praising it as the best DC Extended Universe movie yet. (Yes, we know that's not exactly hard.)

We've lassoed up some of the reactions for you below.

While they aren't without some reservations, this response to Wonder Woman is better than most people would have been expecting.

What to Read Next

And it's lucky given that we'll be seeing Gadot's Wonder Woman again in team-up movie Justice League later this year, with Zack Snyder back in control of the character after introducing her in Batman v Superman.

He's also confirmed that a sequel to Wonder Woman is in the works, but that Joss Whedon's Batgirl will be the next solo female-led superhero movie we'll see from DC.

Wonder Woman is released in UK cinemas on June 1 and US cinemas on June 2.
