Our first look at David Beckham's recent career move has arrived, and it seems that his role in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword isn't the kind of knight you'd want rescuing you on horseback.

(Ah well. Who needs chivalry anyway?)

Watch the moment Becks orders Charlie Hunnam's "stupid" Arthur to pull the legendary Excalibur out from the stone below. Is it as bad as Piers Morgan suggests? We're saying nothing...

While we try to get the mental image of David Beckham bouncing Charlie Hunnam on his knee out of our minds, we'll turn to Piers Morgan – who's been enjoying taking the piss out of Becks today.

After airing the short clip on today's (May 9) Good Morning Britain, resident shit-stirrer-turned-film-critic Piers Morgan threw in his two cents regarding David's performance.

"He could be the third Mitchell brother in EastEnders," he enthused to Susanna Reid. "I thought it was a very, very good performance. Honestly – Oscars, wow, exciting."

Quick to jump to Beckham's defence, Susanna said she thought the role was "good". "I think it's atmospheric," she added. "He has that role. Well done, David Beckham!"

Unsurprisingly, Piers wasn't convinced. "Will David Beckham be able to make it in Hollywood?" he mused, before deciding: "Probably not."

Piers added, tongue firmly in cheek: "I can see Oscars looming. Another talent from that super-talented family."

Whether Piers likes it or not, there's a chance that Beckham could be reprising his Oscar-worthy role, as Guy Ritchie and Warner Bros are apparently planning an incredible six-film series.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword opens in cinemas on May 12.
