Feminist masterpiece Romy and Michele's High School Reunion celebrated its 20th birthday yesterday (April 25) – but you might not know that one Hollywood star didn't make the final cut.
As it turns out, Will Ferrell (now a comedy megastar thanks to films including Step Brothers, Anchorman and Old School) actually filmed a hilarious cameo that never made it to cinema screens and/or the deleted scenes movie extras.
Speaking to Yahoo, the film's director David Mirkin revealed the reason why Ferrell ended up on the cutting room floor. And we're pretty devastated – because his scene was supposedly "hilarious".
BRB.
"Right when Romy is found out that she didn't invent Post-It notes and the girls are humiliating her about that, she gets a call from her cellphone that she set up with a waiter," Mirkin explained.
The waiter recruited to make the phone call was of course played by Ferrell, who flew out to record the cameo especially.

"He was becoming a huge star, but he agreed to do this cameo for me," Mirkin added.
"[He] flew out from Saturday Night Live. He was hilarious as this waiter who was calling her right at this moment, but it was so upsetting and humiliating for the audience to watch Romy get completely destroyed. The audience couldn't recover from it.
"We had about five minutes of people still sniffing. They fell for [Romy and Michelle] much harder than I thought, so we had to lose the sequence."

The deleted scene was not included in the film's 15th anniversary Blu-ray release from 2012, so it still has never been seen by the public. But Mirkin's holding out hope.
"The 25th anniversary Blu-ray is going to have all of this," he proclaimed. "So stay alive five more years."
Here's hoping.
