Update: Zack Snyder and DC Films co-president Jon Berg have rubbished the rumours of Justice League's run time on Twitter.

Be that as it may, the suggestion a 170 minutes-long Snyder superhero movie certainly doesn't stretch credulity too far.

Original story: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was long. Two-and-a-half hours long, to be precise, but the latest rumour has it that its follow-up, Justice League, will be longer still.

According to a recent update on IMDb, Zack Snyder's upcoming movie will be 170 minutes long – bringing it just shy of three hours.

This is worth taking with a pinch of salt, as IMDb's info is subject to change, or being completely wrong altogether, and as the film isn't out until November the final cut is highly unlikely to be complete.

But Snyder certainly has form on the lengthy superhero movies. Man of Steel was only a little shorter than Batman v Superman, and his Watchmen adaptation was over 2 hours and 40 minutes long.

At 2 hours and 50 minutes, Justice League would still fail to reach the giddy heights of Snyder's Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition, whose extra footage brought its running total up to just over three hours.

For other epically long superheroes films, allow us to direct your attention to Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron (2 hours and 21 minutes) and Captain America: Civil War (2 hours and 27 minutes).

Justice League will unite Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck's Batman with Ezra Miller's Flash, Ray Fisher's Cyborg and Jason Momoa's Aquaman.

Henry Cavill will also appear as Superman, despite his absence from the movie's first full trailer.

Justice League will be released on November 17.
