We all know Rupert Grint's most famous role is that of Ron Weasley, but apparently acting was never something that he "actively dreamed" of – in fact, he nearly quit the business altogether after the last Harry Potter film.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he said: "We had such an intimate and intense few years in this bubble.

"When I started, [acting] was never something that I aspired to do. I did acting with school plays and stuff like that.

"But it was never something that I actively dreamed of. I mean, I fell in love with it while I was doing it.

"But I definitely did think, 'Is this really what I want to do?' I wanted to live a little bit. I felt like I'd missed out on a lot.

"Being in that adult environment from such an early age, it was nice to just be away from it and not have any kind of commitments at all, and just be a bit free."

Back in 2013, Daniel Radcliffe revealed that he considered quitting the Harry Potter franchise after the third film, The Prisoner of Azkaban.

Speaking to The Guardian at the time, he said: "By the third film, I thought, if there's a time to get out, it's now; there's still enough time for another actor to come in and establish himself.

"For a while I thought, 'If I do all of them, will I be able to move on to other stuff or should I start doing other stuff now?'"
