Our excitement has been building ever since the news was announced that Pitch Perfect 3 was going ahead and now it's reached fever pitch as clips of the cast rehearsing for their latest aca-adventure have been released.

And let's just say we really missed these girls.

The official Instagram page for the upcoming film uploaded a video of the cast on day one of filming as they rehearse a dance routine and get back into the swing of things:

We see some of our favourite girls from the first two films – including Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld and Brittany Snow – as they come back together to recreate some of that Bella magic.

"Day one, what can I say? Crushed it," Rebel Wilson told the camera.

We believe you.

While the sneak peek doesn't give us any hints at what songs might make the cut this time around, we are told "the music is harder than ever and better than ever", so we're already expecting some big numbers to go with that pretty impressive choreography.

Earlier in the week, Rebel also uploaded a hilarious video with the caption "Sorry Niko #PitchPerfect3#StuntTraining" showing what else the Bellas get up to behind-the-scenes.

OUCH.

Despite the excitement, the third instalment of the franchise has certainly had its fair share of bad news.

First of all, there was the devastating news that Skylar Astin and the rest of The Treblemakers wouldn't be returning for the third movie and then the movie's release date was pushed back a whole five months, which made us all a little bit tense.

And if that wasn't enough, we also had to come to terms with the fact that it would not be directed by the hero that is Elizabeth Banks.

Luckily, OK GO music video extraordinaire Trish Sie has stepped up to direct so there's no need to panic on that front.

Phew.

Pitch Perfect 3 will be in cinemas December 22, 2017.
