We didn't think the Avengers: Infinity War cast could get any better. We were wrong.

Emmy-winning Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is in early talks to join Marvel's dream team in next year's cosmic Infinity War blockbuster, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While character details are being kept secret, the website reports that Dinklage is being eyed for a "major role" that would carry over into the fourth Avengers movie after he debuts in Infinity War.

Dinklage has previous comic book movie experience for playing Sentinel creator Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and is currently shooting the penultimate season of Game of Thrones.

With Game of Thrones expected to shoot its final season late in 2017, there's a potential hole in Dinklage's schedule that could allow for Avengers: Infinity War's production in Scotland.

Based on a classic Marvel Comics storyline, Infinity War will bring the Avengers, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy and, potentially, Captain Marvel together to battle the mad titan Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Tom Holland has also seemingly revealed that Spider-Man will be joining Marvel's ultimate squad, although that's yet to be confirmed by producers.

At the helm of this cosmic adventure will be the brother directing duo Anthony and Joe Russo, who have impressed Marvel fans in the past with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War.

Avengers: Infinity War arrives in the UK on April 27, 2018 and the US on May 4, 2018, with a sequel to follow in 2019.
