2003's Daredevil was not exactly a highlight of Ben Affleck's career, and it's a phase that the star himself doesn't look back on fondly either.

He has (sort of) redeemed himself with his more complex portrayal of the Caped Crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - even if the movie itself wasn't exactly as great as most had hoped.

Still, Affleck has now opened up about why he took on the role of Batman, and it definitely had something to do with correcting past wrongs, superhero-wise.

"Part of it was I wanted for once to get one of these movies and do it right - to do a good version. I hate Daredevil so much," he said at a recent Times Talk.

The star also argued that Netflix is really doing a good job of tapping the superhero's potential with its series.

"The Netflix show does really cool stuff," he continued. "I feel like that was there for us to do with that character, and we never kind of got it right. I wanted to do one of those movies and sort of get it right."

Meanwhile, it emerged this week that Affleck's first solo outing as Batman will be prioritised over the second Justice League movie, which it looks like we won't see for a good few years yet.

Still, who doesn't like a bit of Batfleck, eh?
