Jennifer Lawrence is in far too deep in this intense new clip from her upcoming sci-fi Passengers.

The Hunger Games actress and Chris Pratt star in the movie as two travellers on a 120-year journey to a distant colony when their sleep pods accidentally open too early - 90 years too early, in fact.

And it looks like things get very dangerous, very fast, if this clip from Entertainment Weekly is anything to go by.

J-Law's character Aurora can be seen going for a refreshing dip in the spaceship's inviting pool, but all hell breaks loose when the water starts defying gravity.

It's an impressive and claustrophobic little scene, and suggests this could be one of those to hunt down on the biggest screen possible when it hits cinemas.

Passengers is directed by Morten Tyldum, who made the Oscar-winning true-life story The Imitation Game, and is written by John Spaihts of Prometheus fame.

Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne and Aurora Perrineau make up the supporting cast, but it looks like this is largely a Lawrence-Pratt two-hander.

Passengers opens in cinemas in the UK and US on December 21.

The first full-length trailer was unveiled earlier this year and gave off some strong Gravity / The Martian / Moon vibes. So no pressure then...
