The amazing adventures of Spider-Man will be continuing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a long time.

What to Read Next

We've only just met the latest Spidey in Captain America: Civil War, but now actor Tom Holland has revealed that the upcoming solo movie Spider-Man: Homecoming is a mere taste of what's to come.

"They give you options and those could be exercised whenever. Like a cameo in Avengers," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm unclear as to which movies though. I do know I have three Spider-Man [appearances in other] movies and three solo movies contracted. But if you have another movie, Marvel is so good at working around it.

"They're very respectful of your life, really. They understand that you have to work on other movies, and they try and fix it up so you can work around each other."

That six-movie deal fits in well with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige's recent envisioning of the Spider-Man film series as a Harry Potter-esque coming-of-age story.

Feige teased: "[Spider-Man: Homecoming] is sophomore year - is the next one junior year? Is the next one senior year? Is there a summer break between each of those?

"I don't know what, but it was sort of, 'How do we do a journey for Peter not dissimilar for what the students of Hogwarts would go through each of their years?' which was one of the early ideas we had for the movies."

Spidey's first solo outing won't technically even be a solo outing, as he'll join forces with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) to battle The Vulture (Michael Keaton) and Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine) on the streets of New York City.

From there, Tom Holland might reprise his wall-crawling role in any number of upcoming Marvel movies. Avengers: Infinity War, perhaps?

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into cinemas on July 7, 2017.
