Jamie Dornan might be ditching his Fifty Shades Darker sex dungeon and The Fall's jail cell for a trip to Sherwood Forest.
What to Read Next
The Northern Irish actor is the latest major name to circle the Leonardo DiCaprio-produced action-adventure spectacle Robin Hood: Origins, in which he'd be starring opposite Taron Egerton as the merry raider himself.
Jamie is being tapped to play the swashbuckling Will Scarlett, a member of the Merry Men known for his incredibly-short fuse and sword-fighting prowess.
In this version of the Robin Hood mythos, it's actually Will Scarlett and not Robin who is married to Maid Marion (Eve Hewson), reports Entertainment Weekly.
Expect Robin Hood: Origins to go the gritty route, as it's being directed by Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror and Hustle's Otto Bathurst.
In taking on the role of the badass Will Scarlett, Jamie Dornan would be following in the footsteps of Ray Winstone (Robin of Sherwood), Christian Slater (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) and Harry Lloyd (the Robin Hood TV show).
Venturing into Sherwood Forest will be quite a nice getaway for Jamie Dornan, whose generally scaring us to bits as The Fall's serial killer Paul Spector when he's not getting kinky for the Fifty Shades movies.

Dornan does actually have a bit of relevant experience venturing through mythic forests though, so a role in the new film isn't too much of a stretch.
Before he became a smouldering sex symbol as Christian Grey, he chased down Disney villains as the Enchanted Forest's Huntsman in the ABC series Once Upon a Time.
We'll meet this new band of Merry Men when Robin Hood: Origins swings into cinemas next year.
