Marvel fanpeople had a moment back in August when a photograph from the set of Thor: Ragnarok revealed a very suggestive Easter egg.

Chris Hemsworth was snapped holding a card that very clearly shows the address of Doctor Strange's Greenwich Village pad – his 'Sanctum Sanctorum', if you're looking to get technical.

It immediately led to speculation that Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme could show up in Thor's third movie. But what does director Taika Waititi have to say about it?

"Ohhh I don't know," he told Digital Spy. "I am not sure if... I don't know actually. I can't comment on it. It may have just been something for the fans."

And what about a Cumberbatch cameo (a Cumbameo, if you will)?

"Might be something like that," said Waititi. "Might be a little tease. Or maybe a tease just for people who wanted to zoom into that photo."

Suspicious, right?

If Cumberbatch DOES show up, he won't be the only Marvel hero to cameo. Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk will feature in the film, which will include elements from the 'Planet Hulk' storyline.

Cate Blanchett, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum and Karl Urban will also star in Thor: Ragnarok, which will be released in the UK on October 27, 2017, and in the US on November 3, 2017.

Waititi also opened up about how he prepared for Thor: Ragnarok.
