Hollywood hardman Jason Statham is set to dive into deep waters, as he's reportedly signed on to star in Meg, a shark-infested action horror from Warner Bros.
Based on Steve Alten's novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, Meg is about two men who team up to try to capture an ancient shark threatening the California coast.
In the movie, the shark will be terrorising the coast of China rather than California.
The Megalodon is an extinct shark species, considered one of the largest and most powerful predators in history and reaching 60 feet in size.
According to Deadline, Statham's rumoured character is called Jonas Taylor. No-one else is currently cast.
Jason was last seen in Fast & Furious 7 and action comedy Spy. He reprises his Fast character, Deckard Shaw, in Fast 8, currently in pre-production.
