You may remember Love Actually for its soppy festive happy-ever-afters for Hugh Grant, Martin Freeman and... Kris Marshall - but it also had its fair share of bittersweet endings.

One of which was Harry and Karen's story, in which the husband (Alan Rickman) betrayed his wife (Emma Thompson) after succumbing to the temptation of his employee Mia (Heike Makatsch).

While Harry is never shown actually having an affair, Karen discovers that he has at least bought an expensive necklace for his admirer. Having assumed the jewelry was for her, she sobbed while playing her actual gift - a Joni Mitchell CD.

The couple are seen reuniting in the final scenes with their children, with Harry arriving home after Christmas from an unknown trip away. But what actually happened to them, dammit?

Well, director Richard Curtis's wife Emma Freud has now finally revealed what happened during a midnight screening of the romantic 2003 movie, after a fan asked about their future.

Freud also confirmed that Harry DID have an affair, the "classic fool".
