Wicker, the upcoming romance film being led by Olivia Colman, has had an exciting update regarding its cast and filming schedule - here's everything you need to know about this unique project.
The film, which is based on Ursula Wills-Jones's short story The Wicker Husband, sees Colman portray a "smelly fisherwoman" who sparks outrage and jealousy after embarking on an "unconventional" romance in her conservative town (via Deadline).
Announced way back in October 2023, Wicker originally had Dev Patel starring alongside Colman as a co-lead, but an update from Variety has revealed that the role has now been recast.
Alexander Skarsgård has replaced Patel, while Peter Dinklage and Elizabeth Debicki have joined the supporting cast. Filming reportedly also wrapped last month in Budapest, so a release may not be too far away.
Billed as a "twisted [and] unconventional romance," the narrative follows Colman as a "smelly, single and perpetually ridiculed fisherwoman living on the outskirts of a village by the sea.

"One day, fed up with her stuffy, small-minded neighbours, she commissions the local basket maker to build her a husband entirely from wicker, with their relationship sparking outrage, jealousy and chaos."
Wicker has been directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, while Australian filmmaker David Michôd - best known for Animal Kingdom and Christy - will serve as a producer.
The film comes off the back of another unusual romance for Colman in the shape of The Roses, a wickedly devilish comedy-drama in which the actor stars alongside Benedict Cumberbatch as a feuding couple.
Despite the narrative featuring almost constant bickering between the pair, the acting duo exclusively spoke with Digital Spy ahead of the film's release last month, and shared that the project was a "gamble" given their off-screen friendship.

"I suppose there's a bit of a gamble going on; 'What if this is the end of our friendship or what if we don't like the way each other works?'," said Colman. "I loved having a play partner who was always there."
"I mean there was never a [bad] moment. It was always immediate and beautiful. I love looking into Ben's eyes and going, 'Oh fun, we're going to have a great scene,'" the actor continued.
"I love the fact that I've got someone I can trust so much," said Cumberbatch. "f I was floundering around, worried about something or if I wanted to push something, there was just a very open dialogue about it all the time and you can get further faster with a friend."
Wicker has no release date.
