The Lord of the Rings stars Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd met with another famous face from the series as they showcased their new project.

The pair, who played Merry and Pippin respectively in Peter Jackson’s film series, have collaborated on numerous projects since their most famous roles, with their latest - Billy and Dom: Eat the World - seeing the duo travel the world and eat “delicious” food.

Ahead of the show’s premiere in the new year, the pair released a trailer and behind-the-scenes photo to signify the conclusion of filming for the series, with the duo bumping into Sir Ian McKellen - who played Gandalf in LOTR - along the way.

“Filming is complete and @billyanddomeattheworld is starting to come out around the world,” they wrote on Instagram, with the duo sharing a photo with McKellen in his London pub, The Grapes.

“Watch this space for announcements. Series 1 follows @boydbilly and @dom_monaghan_ as they take eight culinary adventures in London, the Outer Hebrides, California, Texas, Japan, Costa Rica, Manchester and Switzerland” read the rest of the post, which also included teaser photos of some of their journey.

The content received a warm response from fans in the comment section, with one writing: “Love how the first pic is them with Sir Ian McKellen.”

As per the logline, Billy and Dom: Eat the World will see the duo keep in touch with their “Hobbity roots” as they venture around the world, with Boyd saying: “It is so exciting to now take that passion we have for travel and new experiences into this TV show.”

“I have known Billy for over 20 years and in that time have been lucky enough to travel with him extensively,” added Monaghan. “Since The Return of the King [we've] been looking for something new to do on screen together that people who follow our careers may enjoy.”

Billy and Dom: Eat the World will premiere in 2025.
