There's a chance though that no matter how many times you've seen the movie, you might not realise that It's a Wonderful Life has a dark backstory that people have forgotten.
When the movie was first released back in 1946, it ended up being such a flop that it closed down the studio that made it (Liberty Films) and essentially ended director Frank Capra's career, even if it's now become a timeless classic.
It's a Wonderful Life airs today (December 24) at 2.30pm on ITV1.
