We've been treated to the first trailer for 28 Years Later, but it might not be all good news for fans.

One moment in the trailer sees an infected man rise up in a field behind Jodie Comer's character. The infected person in question sure appears to look a lot like Cillian Murphy's courier Jim from 28 Days Later.

We knew Murphy was coming back for the new movie, not just as an executive producer, but also reprising the role of Jim. He's not seen (in human form) anywhere else in the trailer, so it could be him.

Equally, it could just be an infected person that looks a lot like Murphy. Decide for yourself below:

We're not the only ones who have spotted the resemblance as the brief moment has been picked up by fans.

What to Read Next

"The zombie rising up in the field looked like my boi, Cillian Murphy," wrote one commenter on the official trailer, with another adding: "CILLIAN MURPHY IS THAT YOU?!?"

Not everybody was convinced, however, with another commenter saying: "If it was him, I really don't think they would have shown him in the first trailer."

It's a good point, but perhaps they just didn't expect people to spot it. Let's have a zoomed-in look to make your final decision.

Of course, we won't know for sure that Jim has become infected with the rage virus until 28 Years Later comes out in cinemas next June – or if anybody reveals otherwise beforehand.

But if Jim has become infected, it certainly fits with the tease from Sony boss Tom Rothman when it was confirmed that Murphy was reprising the role "in a surprising way and in a way that grows".

28 Years Later is released in cinemas on June 20, 2025.
