Peter Capaldi's political satire In the Loop has been added to Prime Video's streaming catalogue in the UK.

Released in 2009, the movie from writer-director Armando Iannucci is a spin-off to his acclaimed series The Thick of It, with Capaldi reprising the role of Malcolm Tucker, the UK Government's Director of Communications.

The film sees Capaldi's Malcolm fly to the US to keep the UK Minister for International Development Simon Foster (Tom Hollander) in check after an interview blunder about a possible military intervention in the Middle East.

In the Loop was co-written by Iannucci and his frequent collaborators Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell and Tony Roche, with the team being nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2010 Oscars.

Alongside Capaldi and Hollander, the film boasts a stacked cast, also featuring The Sopranos' late James Gandolfini, Notting Hill's Gina McKee, Veep's Anna Chlumsky, and The Thick of It's Chris Addison, here playing the role of Toby Wright.

As for Capaldi, the Scottish actor has recently weighed in on his fond memories of his time on Doctor Who.

Recently seen on crime thriller Criminal Record opposite Cush Jumbo, Capaldi reflected on playing the Twelfth Doctor, saying being the Time Lord was "much more fun" than being him.

"I was watching Tom Baker talking about something, and he said that when he was Doctor Who, he would do tons and tons of publicity and stuff, because being Doctor Who was much more fun than being Tom Baker, and I would say the same, probably – being Doctor Who is much more fun than being me," he told Radio Times.

In the Loop is available to stream on Prime Video in the UK. Those based in the US can rent the film on Apple TV or watch it on AMC+.
