Josh Gad has opened up about voicing the snowman Olaf in Frozen, revealing that he made a "big mistake" in how he chose to go about it.

Speaking at a fan convention (via The Hollywood Reporter), the Beauty and the Beast and Book of Mormon actor told audience members: "If I could do it all over again, I would not have lent that snowman my voice. I would've created a different voice.

"It's very weird being in a supermarket and having a little child [slowly turn their head and look at you]. That was my first big mistake."

"But, you know, people tell me I have a very unique voice. People seem to like my voice, so I try to give it to them when I can," he added.

Just last month, the third Frozen movie was given an official release date. Unfortunately for fans, that release date is over three years away.

Meanwhile, a fourth film is already in the works at Disney, with Jennifer Lee once again at the helm.

Gad was also meant to be starring in another Disney sequel, a revival of the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids movies called Shrunk. Original director Joe Johnston and star Rick Moranis were also on board, but unfortunately things have fallen through.

"A lot of you ask me what's going on with this film," he said. "Truth is, we were inches from starting and then COVID hit, inches from starting again and then my schedule exploded with conflicts, inches from starting again and budget got the best of us. If you want it, let your local @disney know."

Another Gad/Disney nostalgia project, Beauty and the Beast spin-off Little Town, was similarly put on hold back in 2022, and has remained that way since.

Frozen and Frozen 2 are streaming on Disney+.
