We already knew that Millie Bobby Brown's action-fantasy Damsel was the most-watched Netflix movie so far this year, but it turns out a lot more people watched it than we thought.

Netflix has released its latest Engagement Report for January to June 2024, revealing the full viewing stats for its entire catalogue. We get a weekly update on the most-watched titles, but the ranking charts for those are based only on the first 91 days of release.

By the end of its first 91 days, Damsel had recorded 138 million views. It continued to be a draw on the streaming service though and by the end of June 2024, it had notched up 143.8 million views from 263.7 million hours viewed.

It's a number that likely continued to grow post-June, but we'll have to wait until the next report to find out.

What's interesting is that rounding off the top five was The Super Mario Bros Movie, a non-Netflix movie that was added to the streaming service in various countries worldwide, including the US.

The hit Nintendo animation recorded 80.3 million views from January-June 2024 and given it was still in the top ten weekly most-watched at the end of August, that's a number which definitely grew.

Minions (72.7 million views), The Boss Baby (63.6 million views), Despicable Me 3 (61.6 million) and Shrek (56.9 million views) all feature in the top 15, ahead of both Rebel Moon movies.

Netflix has also released similar data for the most-watched TV shows of the year, which you can find right here.
