Zac Efron has posted an update after being involved in an accident over the last few days.

The High School Musical and The Greatest Showman actor's representatives told TMZ that he was taken to hospital after what is described as "a minor swimming incident" at an Ibiza villa on Friday, and that the hospital visit was just a "precautionary measure".

Efron himself uploaded an Instagram Story, featuring a photo of him lifting weights while lying on a yoga ball, and wrote: "Happy and healthy – thanks for the well wishes."

The actor recently appeared in The Iron Claw, a film that was highly acclaimed by critics but was overlooked during awards season.

Reacting to the film's lack of award success, Efron's co-star Jeremy Allen White said: "All this stuff is amazing and it feels really good, you work hard at something and you're [rewarded] in this way, but also so much of this is out of our control.

Meanwhile, Efron has been cast in an upcoming thriller called Famous, as both a famous actor and a fan who becomes obsessed with him.

This year has also seen Efron star in Netflix's A Family Affair, opposite Nicole Kidman and Joey King, and Ricky Stanicky with John Cena.

A Family Affair follows a young woman who finds out that her mother is in a relationship with her boss, and last month Kidman shared that the film originally "had a different title".

"It was called Motherf***er," Efron added.
