If there’s one thing Deadpool’s going to do, it’s bring the shock factor with a generous helping of humour.
And the press tour for the third instalment of the Deadpool movie franchise certainly reflects its main character’s propensity for mischief.
Showing in cinemas now, Deadpool & Wolverine follows Marvel's most-loved antiheroes as they team up to defeat a common enemy – and a series of equally unusual and amusing stunts have been doing a stellar job of getting us hyped for the release.
Think: an Xbox controller shaped like Deadpool’s tush, a hilariously crude Wolverine popcorn bucket and Peggy, aka Dogpool, pulling off an endearing disappearing act at the London sneak peek event on the July 11.
But the most recent stunt we've spotted might just be the cherry on the cake.
The Deadpool & Wolverine roundabout
Scene-stealing, high-energy action is exactly what you’d expect from Marvel’s most brazen antihero and this floral tribute in the heart of Wrexham is taking LFG (Let Flowers Grow, of course, the real slogan is far too cheeky for us to divulge) to a whole new level.
Yep, you read that right. A guerrilla flower installation made from a pair of 2.4m hearts cropped up on Holt Road roundabout in Wrexham on July 24.
Adorned in red and yellow blooms ranging from peonies to geraniums to honour the super suits of the film’s protagonists, the installation will grace the roundabout from July 24 - September 23. After it's had its time to shine, it will be moved to Wrexham town centre where it will hopefully help the town win Britain in Bloom 2024.
It’s not lost on us that this installation is cropping up in Wrexham, either. Reynolds purchased Wrexham FC with fellow actor Rob McElhenney back in 2020, skyrocketing the club (and the town) to fame. Nevertheless, a retail park roundabout is the last place you'd expect to see a blooming dedication to your favourite antihero, right?
The entire press tour has been centred around unexpected appearances, including Ryan and Paul Hollywood in the Great British Bake Off tent and Ryan and Hugh Jackman’s water fight at the Seoul Waterbomb Festival.
It seems that Deadpool isn’t the only rebel bringing flowers to urban spaces. Read all about the fascinating rise of guerrilla gardening and admire more pics of the Deadpool & Wolverine roundabout here.
