Nicolas Cage's new horror movie has landed a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of its US release.

Longlegs sees Cage play a serial killer who is being pursued by FBI agent Lee Harker (played by It Follows' Maika Monroe) who discovers a personal connection to the case.

The synopsis reads: "As the investigation becomes more complicated with occult evidence uncovered, Harker realises a personal link to the killer and must act quickly to prevent another family murder."

The film hits US cinemas on July 12, but unfortunately, no UK release date has been announced yet.

According to critics, if you're looking for a summer scare, Longlegs is one that will stick with you for a long time.

Slashfilm described it as: "The most terrifying horror movie of 2024, a film that gets under your skin and may never get out."

And while "the most terrifying horror movie of 2024," is a great accolade, Flickering Myth went even further and called it "the scariest film of the decade," adding that it was a "pure horror experience."

Bloody Disgusting wrote: "Longlegs gets under your skin and stays there, immersing you so thoroughly in the repulsive, discomforting nature of evil through terrifying imagery and a tactile atmosphere that it’s unshakable."

IGN noted in their review that Longlegs "feels like a movie you’ve seen before but with an evil filter laid over it," adding that this was both a weakness and a strength.

Longlegs is directed by Oz Perkins, son of Psycho actor Anthony Perkins, who also wrote the screenplay.

Alongside Monroe and Cage, the film also stars Alicia Witt and Blair Underwood.

Longlegs is out in cinemas in the US on July 12.
