Paul Mescal's mum Dearbhla Mescal Ni Molloy has shared that her cancer is in remission in a new health update.

The actor's mother, who has shared regular social media posts about her cancer journey, was first diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2022, a cancer that develops in white blood cells in the bone marrow.

In a new Instagram post shared this week, she said she felt "blessed" having learnt that her cancer was on the decline.

Dearbhla went on to share her heartfelt thanks to the medical team who have cared for her and admitted that people's kindness is general is what kept her fighting at times.

Paul's singer-songwriter sister Nell Mescal commented on her mother's post with a single red love heart emoji.

Wendy Edgar-Jones, the mum of Paul's Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones also left a message of support, writing: "Fantastic news, sending all our love."

Whilst promoting his most recent film All of US Strangers, Mescal opened up about his mother's diagnosis and how it impacted him whilst filming.

"I wasn't able to process it at the time, but my body was processing it in kind of real-time," he told ABC News Australia.

"Like in the scene when Andrew talks about the death of his mother — I was just going to work thinking I was fine. But something that I've learned about grief is that it's a physical thing and you can say that you're fine in your head, but it has to manifest itself."
