Ryan Gosling has praised his The Fall Guy co-star Emily Blunt, saying she can "do it all".

The action-comedy, directed by Bullet Train's David Leitch, sees Gosling play retired stuntman Colt Seavers, who returns to work following a serious injury so he can reconnect with ex-girlfriend Jody (Blunt) on the set of her new movie.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy ahead of The Fall Guy’s release on May 3, Gosling had high praise for Blunt and admitted he’s been a "fan" of hers "for so long".

"There’s nothing she can’t do really. Recently on SNL she came in and sang with me, hit the harmony, hit me with chairs, she can do it all!" the Barbie actor continued.

"And she’s so game and inventive. It’s one of my favourite depictions of a filmmaker in a film. I think she plays such a great director in this movie, because she leads… She’s grace under pressure in this film.

"Everything is exploding around, and it’s all super-crazy, and yet she’s like the calm of the storm. That’s kind of what she’s like in general."

We also caught up with Gosling's co-star Winston Duke, who plays Colt's best friend and fellow stuntman Dan Tucker.

The actor discussed how The Fall Guy lets audiences into the making of an action film, which he said "elevates it to a grand epic".

"The thing about The Fall Guy and movies like this is that we get to take some influences from real life. What it means to be on a set, what it means to be a toxic actor or a toxic creator," he shared.

"But then you get to explode it into this ‘what if’. What if we go to the extreme? What if we are in a movie set and things… Like, we haven’t figured out the third act, it's a real thing that happens. What if we’re losing millions upon millions and the actors disappear? That’s the cool thing."

Duke concluded by saying the film is "brimming with action, adventure, love, romance, tears, laughter, explosions, crashes, painful crashes," adding: "At the end of the day, it’s like a classic action movie."

The Fall Guy is released in UK cinemas on May 2.
