Ferrari's Jack O'Connell has landed his next movie role starring opposite Michael B Jordan.

The actor will play a villain in an untitled Ryan Coogler event film for Warner Bros (via Deadline).

Jordan and Coogler have worked together before on the Sundance hit Fruitvale Station, as well as the Black Panther and Creed franchises.

According to Deadline, O'Connell's antagonist role was a highly sought-after part. The actor recently appeared in Ferrari as Peter Collins alongside Adam Driver. He also stars in the upcoming Sam Taylor-Johnson Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black with Marisa Abela, where he plays the late singer's husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

O'Connell, who played James Cook in Skins seasons three, four and seven, also addressed rumours about being the next James Bond last month. He told Total Film it would be an achievement to be on a list of names to play the spy.

"I mean, listen, if something like that comes my way, sure. I'd just treat it the same way: I'd read it, see who's directing. Do they want me? Cool. Let's chat. Is the script belting? Then cool, let's definitely chat.” he said.

"It's not something that I'm going to turn my nose up at. I'm sure there's a long, long list. I'm sure that list is highly competitive, and I'm sure that there are some phenomenal actors being considered for it. If I'm somewhere along that list – brilliant. That in itself is an achievement."

He continued: "But, again, a lot of that stuff – as you find with quite a lot in this industry – is out of my hands. You just roll with the punches."
