Joel Schumacher has said that bat nipples "will be on [his] gravestone".
The director claimed responsibility for 1997's much-derided Batman & Robin at The Hamptons Film Festival.
"I think that will be on my gravestone. It's how I'll be remembered," he told Variety about his infamous batsuit design.
"I didn't do a good job," he continued. "George [Clooney] did. Chris [O'Donnell] did. Uma [Thurman] is brilliant in it.
"Arnold is Arnold," he said of former California governor Schwarzenegger.
Schumacher said that he has high hopes for Ben Affleck's turn as Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
