Harry Styles' debut movie is also his best so far, better than the Florence Pugh-starring thriller Don't Worry Darling and Prime Video's romantic drama My Policeman.

We're of course talking about Christopher Nolan's war epic Dunkirk, which aired on BBC Two last night (March 17) and is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer alongside other gems like Denis Villeneuve's best thriller and Jack Lowden's best movie. The movie is only available for 29 days, so don't take too long to watch it!

You can also rent or buy Dunkirk on Amazon, Microsoft Store and iTunes.

Released back in 2017, the critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated movie also stars Saltburn's Barry Keoghan, Slow Horses' Jack Lowden, Tom Hardy, Fionn Whitehead, and Academy Award winners Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy and Kenneth Branagh.

Nolan, who just won his first-ever Oscar with Oppenheimer, offers an immersive cinematic experience of World War II.

Set in 1940 and based on a true story, the movie shows thousands of desperate soldiers awaiting evacuation on French shores, while a group of British citizens decide to take to the sea in their own private boats to help them.

It's a very short film for Nolan's standards — only 1 hour and 46 minutes.

"Dunkirk is the film Nolan has been building to his entire career. It's his masterpiece, it's the best film of the year so far, and it's the one to beat come awards time," read Digital Spy's five-star review,

"And Harry Styles? It may reek of stunt casting, but if it was, it has completely paid off. Though also not given all that many lines, he's sympathetic and charismatic as a young soldier clinging on to life in the worst of circumstances."

Styles, who also made his Marvel debut in a cameo in Eternals (although we haven't seen his character, Thanos' brother Eros, since that one scene), is slowly finding his place in Hollywood while continuing his successful music career.

"Music I've done a little longer so I'm a bit more comfortable. What I like about acting is I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing," Styles told press at the Venice Film Festival in 2022.

"There are aspects of acting where you're drawing from experiences a bit, but for the most part you're pretending to play someone else," he explained.

"I find it really different. I think the fun part is that you never know what you're doing in either one of them."

Dunkirk is available to stream on BBC iPlayer, and to rent or buy on Amazon, Microsoft Store and iTunes.
