Paramount have announced the release dates for two sequels to the rebooted Terminator franchise, even though the first film doesn't hit cinemas until next summer.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that Terminator 2 has been dated for May 19, 2017 and Terminator 3 for June 29 the following year. The two films will be produced back to back.
The first film in the rebooted franchise, Terminator: Genisys, is due to be released on July 1 in the US and June 26 in the UK.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will be reprising his role as the eponymous machine and starring alongside him are Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Matt Smith and Jai Courtney.
Helming Genisys, though not confirmed for the sequels, is Alan Taylor, best known for directing Thor: The Dark World and his work on TV shows such as Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos.
The last Terminator movie was 2008's Terminator: Salvation starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington. It was considered both a financial and critical disappointment.

Sam Moore is a culture writer from the UK, writing mainly about film, TV and music for the likes of The Guardian, GQ, The Independent and many more. He is currently working on a book about the making of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.
