Daniel Radcliffe has said that he thinks JK Rowling and Warner Bros will have "a great time" making new Harry Potter-inspired movie series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The movie, which will be Rowling's first screenplay, will involve magical characters and creatures, including some which have featured in Harry Potter novels in the past.
"Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world," Rowling said last week.
When asked at a Sky Drama launch today (September 17) about his first thoughts on the new movie franchise, Radcliffe joked: "I first thought, 'Thanks Jo, I'm going to have to answer tons of questions about this now'."
He added: "I'm sure they're going to have a great time [making it]. I'm sure most people are really excited about it.
"Needless to say I wouldn't be involved in it and I guess none of the others [from the Harry Potter films] will be, but I know absolutely nothing about it."
What to Read Next
Radcliffe has recently been appearing on the stage in The Cripple of Inishmaan, and the Harry Potter star said that combining his theatre work with a second series of Sky Arts comedy drama Young Doctor's Notebook had been exhausting.
When asked whether he would be returning to the theatre soon, he said: "I think it's like asking a woman after just giving birth if she wants any more.
"I may at some point, but right now I can't think of anything more exhausting. I've had an amazing time. It was slightly exhausting doing that at the same time as shooting this, but it was great.
Radcliffe and Jon Hamm will return for a second series of A Young Doctor's Notebook in November.
