Glen Powell has confirmed that he is returning for the third Top Gun movie.

The Anyone But You actor played Hangman in the hugely successful Top Gun: Maverick, and shortly after reports stated that a third film is happening, he revealed that he is suiting up again.

Speaking to Variety following the Top Gun 3 news, Powell said that a lot of people have been texting him since the announcement, stating that "people looked at me like I knew what was going on".

"There is going to be some fun stuff being announced soon…" he teased, "but it was confidential to me.

"I talk to [Joseph] Kosinski, [Tom] Cruise and Jerry [Bruckheimer] all the time. There is stuff happening and it sounds very exciting.

The Top Gun 3 reports that Miles Teller is also returning as Rooster – and while he hasn't confirmed his involvement, it was previously reported that he is part of the new movie.

Looking at the success of Anyone But You, which has made over $1oo million at the worldwide box office to date, Powell said: "For me, Anyone But You was such a treat to see audiences dance out of the theater and feel so happy after watching a movie.

"To see the box office not just stick but grow has been such a cool lesson that sometimes the genres that have been forgotten are the ones audiences are craving the most."

Both Top Gun movies can currently be streamed on Sky Go, NOW, and Paramount+ in the UK.
