The Hunger Games star Sam Claflin has discussed the possibility of returning to the dystopian franchise.

Remembered for portraying District 4 victor Finnick Odair across Catching Fire and the two Mockingjay movies, he was recently speaking to Variety when the question of a future reprisal popped up.

"I don't know if there's room for me to go back. I'm too old now," he answered, before noting: "I've heard rumours that people are asking for a Finnick prequel, and all I'm gonna say is that I would be all in for Finnick's dad."

In the same interview, Claflin, who Peaky Blinders fans will recognise as politician Oswald Mosley, addressed the new Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which saw Tom Blythe slide into the role of a younger Coriolanus Snow.

"Of course I have [seen it.] If you love the Hunger Games series, you will love this movie. [Director] Francis Lawrence at the helm is sort of a dagger in the heart because I thought he was ours, but I'm so glad that he's stuck with it," said the actor.

Back in February of last year, Claflin publicly savaged his American accent in The Hunger Games.

"I feel a little more confident in myself and comfortable in myself. Especially with a part like Finnick, where he just exudes charisma," he said. "At the time, I was sh***ing myself – the first topless scene I've ever done, you know? Oh, my God.

"Also, I didn't have an accent coach in Hunger Games, and I f***ing needed one. I look back and listen to myself like, 'God, that's terrible.'"

The Hunger Games movies are streaming on Prime Video UK, while The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is now available to buy and rent in the UK.
