Reacher star Alan Ritchson has responded to recent Batman rumours, revealing he'd love to play the caped crusader.

Ritchson plays Jack Reacher in Prime Video's adaptation of the Lee Child novels. Last year, Kevin Smith called Ritchson's character as "Batman without a cape."

Ritchson has also been rumoured to take on the role of Batman, although nothing has ever been officially announced or confirmed.

In an interview with Fortress of Solitude, Ritchson spoke about Smith's comments when comparing who is tougher between Reacher and Batman.

"With all the rumours flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman," Ritchson said.

"You know, [Batman without a cape] is a great analogy, actually. But I mean, Batman has got like a cave, and Reacher doesn’t even have a house. He’s got a toothbrush. So, I think Batman has got cool stuff. Dude is loaded and has caves, penthouses, and spotlights that call him. Batman’s cooler."

The rumours of Ritchson's casting could be related to the upcoming DC film The Brave and the Bold.

James Gunn announced the film earlier this year and The Flash's Andy Muschietti will direct the picture, which will be completely separate from Robert Pattinson's existing version.

Ritchson also stars in the Fast & Furious franchise and recently recounted an awkward experience with Vin Diesel when he accidentally insulted Diesel.

He explained: "I go 'Hey man, I hadn't really watched any of them. I watched the first one in high school, and now that I got the part, I've seen them all, and I just love what you've been doing with the last two decades.'"

Reacher season 1 is available on Prime Video now.
