Sex Education star Emma Mackey has landed her next movie role in James L. Brooks' latest blockbuster.
As reported by Deadline, the Oscar-winning director will be returning to the big screen after 13 years. His newest film — titled Ella McKay — will see Mackey become a young politician, who learns to juggle her busy work life with family.
"The film will follow an idealistic young politician who juggles familial issues and a challenging work life while preparing to take over the job of her mentor, the state's longtime incumbent governor," reads the official logline for the film.

Stars in talks to join Mackey in the upcoming production include Halloween's Jamie Lee Curtis, True Detective's Woody Harrelson, The Bear's Ayo Edibiri, Albert Brooks, Kumail Nanjiani and Spike Fearn.
As well as directing, Brooks will also produce with his producing partners Julie Ansell and Richard Sakai. Seth Meier will executive produce, with 20th Century Studios on board to release the anticipated film.

Ella McKay marks Brooks' first directing endeavour since the 2010 comedy How Do You Know, starring Reese Witherspoon and Owen Wilson. He recently earned a producer credit for the coming-of-age drama, Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, starring Rachel McAdams.
After winning the BAFTA Rising Star Award earlier this year, Mackey said goodbye to her character Maeve in the final season of Netflix's hit teen drama. She also starred in Greta Gerwig's summer blockbuster Barbie, which saw her reunite with Sex Education co-stars Ncuti Gatwa and Connor Swindells.
Ella McKay doesn't have a release date yet. Sex Education seasons 1-4 are available to watch on Netflix.
