The Highlander reboot, which will star The Witcher's Henry Cavill, has got an exciting update, with filming planned to start sometime in 2024.
Helmed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski, the reboot will be based on the 1986 original which starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown. The time-jumping spectacle follows immortal beings that hunt one another down to get more power.
The project has received a major production budget of over $100 million, according to Deadline. This news is likely to please fans, who can expect the high quality action experience Stahelski is best known for achieving.

After the original movie's success, Highlander was created into four more movies as well as a TV series, an animated follow-up and several books and video games.
Stahelski recently revealed that the reboot will be "a prequel setup to the Gathering," to help establish his franchise plans. Speaking of movie's interesting storyline, Staheski added: "We have ideas for days about how to make the coolest characters and to make that an epic TV show. I just think that's a rich, rich mythology.

Ahead of the reboot's update, the director spoke exclusively to Digital Spy to share how much he liked the original, as well as the inspiration behind his remake.
"I love the original, I know it's dated in certain ways but I love the vibe and the mythology," he said, adding: "So my take on it would be to somehow maintain the vibe and mythology and feeling of the first movie. Not go off the rails with too much plot, and really develop the world of the immortals.
"I don't care what the mortals are doing, I want to be invested in the immortal world and hold true to the original as much as I can."
