Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer has said that Mamma Mia! 3 "will happen" as it gets another promising update.
Speaking to Variety ahead of the release of the new talent show Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream, which premieres tonight (October 22) at 6pm on ITV1, Craymer said that, although her hands are full with the new show, a third movie will go ahead.
"I am so hands on with everything that I can only do so much. So the TV show has been a big priority. I'm sure [the third movie] will happen. I'm in the privileged position that I have Universal Studios wanting to do it, who I love working with, and I have a storyline," Craymer revealed.

While Craymer is fully behind a third movie, the producer said the only people she needs backing from are ABBA's Bjorn and Benny.
"It just always takes a certain amount of time with Mamma Mia. Bjorn and Benny always take a certain amount of convincing. I don’t know how much more convincing they're gonna have because everybody wants another film. But they had ABBA Voyage and then they wanted a rest from ABBA stuff," she explained.

"But it will happen. We've done the television show and now maybe I'll focus on the movie. Maybe that’ll be a second 25-year celebration," she added.

Earlier this year, Craymer said she will bring Meryl Streep back as Donna Sheridan for the threequel, which is "in its earliest stages".
"I don't want to over-egg it, but I know there's a trilogy there. There is a story there, and I do think Meryl should come back – and if the script is right, she would, I think, because she really loved playing Donna," Craymer added of Streep's potential return.
