Christopher Nolan has praised Taylor Swift for the unique release of her Eras Tour movie.
Speaking at a recent City University of New York event, the Oppenheimer director commended Swift's choice to partner directly with AMC Theatres to distribute the movie rather than Hollywood streamers.
"Taylor Swift is about to show the studios, because her concert film is not being distributed by the studios, it's being distributed by a theatre owner, AMC, and it's going to make an enormous amount of money," said Nolan.

He continued: "And this is the thing, [theatrical exhibition is] a format and a way of seeing things and sharing stories, or sharing experiences, that's incredibly valuable. And if [the studios] don't want it, somebody else will. So that's just the truth of it."
Nolan also touched on the box office success of Oppenheimer, saying: "Any time a film that isn't expected to succeed, and we vastly exceeded our highest expectations for the project, it's encouraging for the studios and the filmmakers.

Nolan applauding Swift's movie release comes after Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour became the biggest-ever concert movie in the US.
Box office figures show the movie earned $92.8 million in North America and $30.7 million internationally, bringing in $123.5 million globally during its first weekend.
The record-breaking concert film was recorded during Swift's first three sold-out nights at the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles in August.
To keep screenings packed, The Eras Tour is playing in cinemas only on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with higher ticket prices to give the movie an 'event' feel.
