Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot and Oscar Isaac have been filming a big action-packed scene for their new movie In the Hand of Dante.

The project, which has been in the works for a decade-plus, is based on the 2002 book of the same name by Nick Tosches and is being directed by The Diving Bell and the Butterfly's Julian Schnabel.

The three Hollywood A-listers lead up the impressive cast – and it seems they're doing some interesting stunts too.

In a new behind-the-scenes picture from production, Isaac is seen tied-up and gagged on a rooftop, while Gadot and Momoa point guns at each other either side of him.

The movie is set in the present day and the 14th century, according to a synopsis from when the project was in early gestation in 2011, and focuses on a fictionalised version of author Tosches (played by Isaac) and poet Dante Alighieri in his time.

What to Read Next

Tosches is swept into a dangerous underworld when he's asked to authenticate Dante's original manuscript for The Divine Comedy, while we also see Dante as he tries to finish his masterpiece.

Johnny Depp was originally lined-up to play the role of Tosches after buying the rights to the novel in 2008, with Schabel on board to direct, though the director revealed to The Guardian last month that Isaac had taken over the role, with Depp no longer involved.

Momoa recently starred in Fast X, and will next be seen in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, while Gadot is set to appear in Disney's live-action Snow White remake as the Evil Queen.

Isaac, meanwhile, recently appeared in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as the voice of Miguel O'Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099.
