A new look at Joaquin Phoenix in Joker: Folie à Deux has been unveiled by director Todd Phillips.
The upcoming sequel to 2019's Joker will see the actor return to the role of Arthur Fleck, with Lady Gaga joining as Harley Quinn/Dr Harleen Quinzel.
Phillips has now taken to his Instagram account with a new still from the movie to mark exactly one year until its release, showing Phoenix in character as he embraces falling rain, all while surrounded by people with umbrellas.

"Oct. 4," he captioned the post. "Thanks for all the messages. Four years ago we had quite a ride. Lots of great memories. More to come."
The latest look comes after the movie wrapped filming earlier this year, with Phillips sharing new images of Phoenix and Gaga at the time.

"That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer," he wrote. "From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together."

Folie à Deux is also set to star new additions Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Jacob Lofland, while Zazie Beetz reprises her role as Sophie Dumond from the first movie.
The movie will also take the form of a musical, with Beetz saying last year that the concept "makes wonderful sense".
"Todd [Phillips, director] has always had a creative approach to the character," she explained. "I love musicals, and I think of them as the characters are feeling and experiencing so much that they can only sing and dance about it, whether in sorrow or in joy."
Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled for a cinema release date of October 4, 2024. Joker is available to buy on Blu-ray or streaming now.
