The Nun 2 credit scene is a treat for fans of The Conjuring series, but you might be left with some questions about exactly when in the Conjuring timeline it takes place.
If all you want to know is whether the horror sequel has a credit scene, then yes, it does have one credit scene which takes place mid-credits. There's nothing to wait for after the credits finish.
We're going to be heading into spoiler territory so if you haven't seen The Nun 2, then look away now.
But if you have seen the movie and want to know exactly how the credit scene fits into the series, we're here to help.
The Nun 2 credit scene explained
While The Nun brought back Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga's Ed and Lorraine Warren in the final scene of the movie, The Nun 2 makes us wait until the credit scene to see our favourite demonologist duo.
The credit scene features Ed picking up the phone to Father Gordon who clearly has another paranormal case to solve. "How can we help?," Ed asks, and that's all we get from this brief scene.
What to Read Next
If you need reminding, Father Gordon (Steve Coulter) has appeared in all three Conjuring movies, as well as Annabelle Comes Home, and the priest uses the Warrens whenever there's a paranormal case to investigate.
You might be wondering where exactly this takes place in The Conjuring timeline and we're pretty confident that it's meant to be after The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.
Why? Because it's a deleted scene from an alternate ending to the third movie, which was also directed by The Nun 2 director Michael Chaves. A promotional still from that deleted scene was released at the time, and it sure looks familiar.

During a watch party for the third movie in August 2021, Chaves explained to a fan on Twitter why the scene was cut, adding that it ended up being used in a HBO Max promo:
"The one on the right was from the alternate ending (I had a version where they didn't kiss and they were interrupted by a Father Gordon call) but I felt that was cruel to all the #Parmiga fans - we deserve a good kiss!"
It's definitely a set-up for the already-confirmed The Conjuring 4, aka The Conjuring: Last Rites. "This is going to be that final chapter, so it is a little bit of a tease of that," Chaves confirmed to EW.
"I think what makes this film so cool, makes The Nun so cool, is that, from the very beginning, the possession of Maurice was one of these centre point elements in the Conjuring universe. It was in the first Conjuring, it's definitely a pivotal event in the entire universe."
It's unlikely that they'll retcon the fate of Maurice, but maybe his connection to Valak means he comes back to haunt the Warrens in the final Conjuring movie.
Hopefully they'll have the back-up of Sister Irene next time around if Valak does return.
The Nun II is out now in cinemas.
