Community star Joel McHale has confirmed that Donald Glover will be returning for the upcoming movie.

The Peacock film was first announced last year, and while most of the cast were revealed to be returning, one of the glaring omissions from the list was Glover's Troy Barnes.

However, in a new interview on the Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa podcast, McHale put fears to rest.

"We're shooting it next summer," he said. "Well, [Donald Glover's] coming back, and that's really important. The fact that we even got Donald to do it... that was the big piece.

"But, I think everyone's coming back. So far, we're pretty good, and I think that will happen. If not, then, you know, Donald will be there. See? It'll just be Donald. It'll just be an episode of Atlanta."

As well as Glover, fellow star Yvette Nicole Brown was not confirmed on the initial Community movie cast list, though writer Dan Harmon previously suggested that they could still come on board.

"I think that Donald is coming, based on word of mouth, but it's just the deal isn't official or wasn't official. It would be difficult to really commit to doing this thing without Donald," he told Variety.

"So I believe he is coming back. I think if there's names missing from a list, it's because the names that are on the list, their deals are agreed upon enough that it's OK to say they are on the list, and anybody that's not on a list, it's just not the case yet.

"So there is nothing official about anybody being out."

Meanwhile, last month McHale gave a disappointing update on the Community movie, suggesting that fans may wait a bit longer than expected over to delays due to the Writers Guild of America strikes.

Community is available to stream via Netflix in the UK, and Netflix and Hulu in the US.
