Marvel's Dave Bautista has been breaking the action-movie-star mould by taking on comedic and dramatic roles, but he also wants to star in a romantic comedy. However, he recently admitted that he isn't sure he has the looks to pull it off.

"I know I'm not your typical rom-com lead. I'm a little rough around the edges," Bautista told Page Six earlier this week.

"I look in the mirror and I say, I ask myself: 'Am I that unattractive? Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?'"

Bautista added that he has "high hopes" he'll score a rom-com role some day. "I'll just keep searching," he said.

In an exclusive interview, Bautista told Digital Spy that Shyamalan helped him overcome his worries about leading his first film.

"He challenged me every day, when I was very unsure of myself. I was having a lot of self-doubt. And I just completely trusted in him, and I relied on him," he said.

Bautista continued: "I questioned myself, and I doubted myself. But I knew that that film was going to make me a stronger actor.

"It also proved something, because I've said a lot that I wanted to be an actor — a respected actor — and now this was kind of like: 'Put up or shut up.'"

Knock at the Cabin will be released in cinemas this Friday (February 3).
