George RR Martin's Hunter's Run to get film adaptation

George RR Martin is working on a new film, and it sounds like it's going to be equally vast, imaginative, and high-stakes as Game of Thrones.

The film, based on the novel of the same name (written by Martin, Gardner Dozois and Daniel Abraham), has been snapped up by Exile Content Studio, so it seems like the wheels are really turning for the project.

Martin is on board to co-produce alongside Mark and Joseph Raso, and Vince Gerardis, the producer of GOT and House of the Dragon, so we can rest assured that it's in good hands.

Hunter's Run follows Ramón Espejo, who leaves Earth to prosper on a new distant planet, but things turn out to not be as good as he hoped. He escapes working as a labororer but then finds himself on the wrong side of the law, accused of murdering an interplanetary diplomat.

During his time on the run he encounters an alien race who are trying to remain hidden, but forces are threatening to expose them all.

"Survival is his only goal, but to achieve it he must find a way to elude these deadly aliens, the hard-nosed police, and his own personal demons," a synopsis reads (via Variety).

Martin has weighed in on the news, saying in a statement: "I'm so pleased that after almost 16 years, Hunter's Run will be made into a film. I'm bursting with excitement for the rich sci-fi universe I helped create with my dear friends Daniel and Gardner to exist beyond the pages of our book."

And, if this didn't already sound like a film to count down the days for, it's also going to feature a Latino-led cast.

Exile (who specialise in Latino film and TV), have stated: "Hunter's Run is an incredible sci-fi epic that will appeal to global audiences, and is an incredible opportunity to build a tentpole franchise around a deeply complex Latino protagonist. We are so proud that Exile can help bring this amazing story to the big screen and beyond."

Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. House of the Dragon airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
