The Conjuring 4 could tie up the story of demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga across three eye-coveringly freaky flicks, the two characters (based on a real married couple) will return for one final movie, it's been suggested by director James Wan – written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
Wan told Collider of the fourth Conjuring's progress: "We are working on it right now.

"With the Conjuring films, we are very precious about [them]. And so we kind of want to just take our time to make sure we get it right and to make sure the emotion of the Warren stories that we want to tell, and moving into, and potentially wrapping up, we just want to make sure that it's the right thing, the right story that we're telling."
Pressed on whether this meant Hollywood's favourite paranormal investigators were on their way out, the filmmaker went on to say: "We never know. You never know. We'll see."
The Conjuring Universe, which features five spin-offs, has welcomed over $2 billion at the box office.

Meanwhile, following the success of last year's The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, stars Wilson and Farmiga admitted they'd love to reprise their roles.
"Oh my God, I'd love to [continue]," the latter told Empire. "It's interesting, we have to up the fear in each one. Demonology is already so high-pitched and operatic."
Wilson, who'll soon show up in Wan's Aquaman sequel, added: "We constantly want to push these characters. I would like to – for no other reason than I would want to keep playing opposite Vera."
The Conjuring 4 is yet to announce a release date.
