Mamma Mia 3 may actually be happening, according to one of the key filmmakers behind the second film.

Since the release of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again in 2018, fans have clamoured for a third instalment in the musical series inspired by the iconic works of ABBA. And now, it seems they may be getting their wish after all.

In an interview with ScreenRant, producer Ol Parker opened up about a potential third movie – and it sounds like there may be something in the works.

"Judy Craymer, the genius producer behind the musical and the first two films, always plans for it to be a trilogy. That's all I can say," Parker said.

"The first one made an enormous amount of money, and I think we made a fair amount too. I know that there is a hunger for a third, and I know that she has a plan. Wouldn't it be lovely?"

News about a third film has been picking up traction of late. Star Pierce Brosnan recently opened up about his hopes for a third movie, saying he'd be all in.

"I'm in, too. Sure. It's criminal how much fun you have on that movie. I think everybody would be in... I'm sure there's some plans," Brosnan said, while promoting Black Adam.

Similarly, Amanda Seyfried, Lily James, and Christine Baranski also said this year that they would love to rejoin their cast members for a third outing.

"If we could go back and have the same amount of good fun and be on a Greek island together filming and dining together at night at some wonderful trattoria or taverna, I don't think anybody would give you an argument," Baranski said.
