Disney+ has confirmed when The Muppet Christmas Carol's Extended Edition will be coming to streaming.
It was recently announced that the festive classic, restored in 4K with the previously-removed song 'When Love is Gone' finally added back in, would be getting a cinematic release starting December 2, and Digital Spy noted that it was set for Disney+ around a week later.
Now we can confirm that it is indeed exactly a week later on December 9. To access the Extended Edition, you'll need to go into the Extras section of the film's page on Disney+ and select it there.
The Extended Edition's release comes amid a number of new movies being made available by the streamer in December, including Amsterdam on December 7 and The Banshees of Isherin on December 21.
There's a long story behind 'When Love is Gone', as the director Brian Henson and studio fought over whether it should be included in the original theatrical cut. Henson argued that it's an important character moment and creates a full circle moment with 'When Love is Found' at the end, while the studio said it was boring.

The actress has joked about people discovering that fact for the first time every year on Twitter, and the soap itself even made a little joke about it a few years back
Meanwhile, A Christmas Carol, which the movie is based on, recently got another new film adaptation with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell's Spirited.
Despite the stars involved, our review called the film "a mixed bag", noting: "There are some genuinely unexpected plot developments and the world of the ghosts is often inventively crafted, but the gags are hit-and-miss, too reliant on the now-standard Reynolds glib aside."
The Muppet Christmas Carol's standard version is available to stream now on Disney+.
