Worlds of DC duo Michael Shannon and Kiersey Clemons will play a father and daughter in comedy movie The Young King.
Written and directed by debutant Larin Sullivan, this movie is set to begin filming in the first quarter of 2023 and takes viewers to '90s Las Vegas (via Deadline).
Clemons stars in the lead role of Jules, an aspiring drag king who visits Vegas to reconnect with her estranged parent Mick (Shannon), a legendary gambler and part-time party clown.

As she prepares to enter the US drag scene, Mick is less than impressed by his daughter's actions and chasing the affections of dancer Ronnie (Nope's Barbie Ferreira).
Thrilled to be producing the project, Mister Smith Entertainment's CEO David Garrett shared in a statement: "We are delighted to present Larin's fresh twist on a classic Vegas story by shining a light on the drag king scene, which has rarely, if ever, been explored on the big screen.

It's a busy period for Clemons, who'll reprise Iris West opposite Shannon's General Zod in The Flash soon enough; she also has Godzilla and the Titans for Apple TV+ on the horizon.
Meanwhile, Ferreira stars in Prime Video's House of Spoils, which features Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose as an ambitious chef opening her first restaurant on a remote estate.
As well as the heat of the kitchen, she'll contend with "crushing self-doubt, a dubious investor" and "the powerful spirit of the estate's previous owner, who threatens to sabotage her at every turn".
The Young King is yet to receive a release window.
