It looks like a Man of Steel sequel could still be on the cards.

While it has been nearly a decade since Henry Cavill debuted as Superman, concrete details on a potential DC follow-up movie have been few and far between.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros is eyeing up a new potential project for Superman, with the studio keen to see Cavill back in the role.

The publication claims that it would effectively be Man of Steel 2, with Charles Roven producing and Warner Bros on the search for potential writers.

Mission: Impossible's Christopher McQuarrie is apparently on the wishlist, though there has reportedly been no formal reachout, and he may be too busy.

It comes after Man of Steel co-writer David S Goyer suggested last year that there was "unfinished business", saying he had heard "rumours" of a sequel.

"I think [there is still unfinished business]," he admitted to The Hollywood Reporter at the time. "I'm not involved in it right now. I've heard the same rumours you've heard, but I'm not plugged into it."

Cavill himself has also showed keenness for a Superman sequel, saying back in 2018 to Collider: "It is very much in my desire to do a Man of Steel 2, a direct sequel to Man of Steel, and there is a whole bunch of Superman story that I want to tell.

"There is a whole style of Superman's character that I'm very keen to tell and I'm looking forward to the opportunity."

Keep your eyes peeled for any updates as and when they come in.
