Saving Grace, the movie which led to the creation of Doc Martin, is set to be turned into a musical.

The new play is based on the 2000 movie starring Brenda Blethyn, Craig Ferguson and Martin Clunes, which follows a widow left with enormous debt after her husband's death, leading her to grow cannabis with her gardener to raise money.

The musical is set to run at Riverside Studios in London between Tuesday, November 22 and Sunday, December 4, and features songs by KT Tunstall, with tickets available now.

Producer Barney Wragg said: "We are inviting audiences to have a first look at what goes into the creation of a new musical.

"It is a chance for them not only to see and enjoy Saving Grace, but to respond to the show and help our team improve and develop the piece.

"We are very much looking forward to the run at the Riverside Studios and sharing the next stage of our Saving Grace journey."

Clunes's character Dr Martin Bamford of course famously went on to star in his own show, which has been running since 2004 and is currently in its 10th and final series.

Doc Martin airs on ITV. Saving Grace The Musical begins at Riverside Studios on November 22.
